On September 20, 2021, the White House announced plans to ease travel restrictions into the United States for fully vaccinated individuals beginning in November of this year.

The Biden Administration plans to rescind the current COVID-19 related travel bans for the Schengen Area, UK, Ireland, Brazil, China, India, Iran, and South Africa. All international travelers to the U.S. will instead be required to prove that they have been fully vaccinated and provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test within three days of boarding their flight to the U.S. The new guidelines will apply to all travelers, whether they are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or foreign nationals. Limited exceptions will be available for children, COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial participants, and humanitarian exceptions for people traveling for an important reason who lack timely access to vaccinations.
