New Travel Ban on 8 Southern African Countries
Starting November 29, 2021, the U.S. Will Restrict Travel from South Africa and 7 Other African Countries

In addition to South Africa, the affected countries are Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi. The travel ban will not apply to U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents, however, they will need to show a negative COVID-19 test result prior to boarding their flight. The U.S. joins Canada, the European Union, and the UK which announced similar restrictions on travelers from Southern Africa on November 26.
